Twanda Annette Flute, 33 was charged with torture or willful abuse of a child. This is a class C felony and is punishable by 1-10 years in prison if convicted. She was arrested after she was seen by five witnesses pulling her 11-yr-old son out of a car in the Wal-mart parking lot. She was seen hitting him repeatedly with an open and closed hand in the back of the head and face while cursing him. After her arrest the child was placed in the custody of his father. The incident is under investigation by the Police and the Lauderdale County Department of Human Resources. Twanda Flute was released from the Lauderdale County Detention Center on bail of $6000.
