A Morgan County woman is accused of taking checks and credit cards from from an elderly couple that she was sitting with. Captain Damon Morgan said that 40 year old Serena Dotson became a suspect when the Morgan County couple complained that someone was using their checks and credit cards without permission.During the course of the investigation, the police were contacted by a local merchant that informed them of someone attempting to make a purchase with a stolen credit card.Morgan County officer Bob Arndt went to the business and took Dotson into custody after discovering forged checks and stolen credit cards in her possession. Dotson was charged with 2 counts of possession of a controlled substance, 5 counts of illegal possession of a stolen debit card, and 4 counts of second degree criminial possession of a forged instrument. Dotson was released from the Lawrence County Jail on bail totalling $11, 000.
