43 year old Carole Medley has been sworn in as the new Lauderdale County District judge by Deborah Bell Paseur, whom she is replacing. Pasuer retired at the end of March in order to dedicate more time to her run for a spot on the state Supreme Court. The ceremony lasted around 15 minutes and had a standing room only crowd which included numerous lawyers, court officials and law enforcement officers. Governor Bob Riley appointed medley to serve the remainder of Paseur's term, which expires in 2010. Medley, who is married to Florence lawyer Keith Medley, is a Shoals native and a graduate of Wilson High School, the University of North Alabama and Jones School of Law in Montgomery. She became a lawyer in 1996 and, since beginning her practice, has practiced mainly domestic law. She added that the two weeks she has spent as district judge have been an incredible experience. |
