Officials Look For Cause Of Blaze That Destroyed Colbert County Restaurant
|
Fire officials are trying to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed the Kuntry Kafe in Barton Wednesday afternoon. Firefighters from Barton, Cherokee, Locust Shores and Highway 247 departments were dispatched to the business on U.S. 72 at 12:56 a.m. Wednesday and it took them almost four hours to fight the blaze. The restaurant was located in a cluster with two other businesses which received minimal damage. The owners of the restaurant, Tina and Buddy Cook, said they closed the business at 4pm Tuesday afternoon, and were awakened Wednesday morning by a phone call alerting them of what was happening. They have not determined whether to rebuild the restaurant at this time. Officials with the State Fire Marshall's Office continue to investigate the possible causes of the fire, and hope to find the answers within the next several days.
