Russellville Councilman Will Run For Mayor

Russellville city councilman Burns "Buckshot" Saint has announced that he will be running for mayor of Russellville in the August 26 municipal election. Saint is a former police chief, two term councilman and construction business owner for 25 years. In order to try and attract more businesses to the city of 9,000, Saint has said that his first priority will be a city-wide cleanup. He was born and raised i Russellville, graduated from Russellville High School, and has been married to his wife for 51 years. He also serves as a deacon at his church, and served for 28 years in the Alabama National Guard, retiring as a sergeant. Outside of Russellville politics, Saint serves on the finance committee for the League of Municipalities for the state of Alabama. While serving as councilman, a swimming pool and tennis courts were built and playground equipment was installed at three local parks. If elected, he also wants to begin construction of a skateboard park and initiate a youth soccer program. Current mayor Johnny Brown is not seeking re-election since he plans to seek the District 2 city council seat.
