Steven Larry Holland of Sheffield was killed Wednesday after a police chase that began over a forged prescription. A Florence Boulevard pharmacy called the police about someone trying to pass a forged prescription and when the police arrived, Holland left the parking lot at a high rate of speed. After a chase that crossed Patton Island Bridge, Holland was traveling south on Wilson Dam with police in pursuit when he veered across the center lane and two lanes of northbound traffic to collide head-on with a tractor trailer driven by 41 Daniel Jones, Jr of Columbia, Tenn. The impact propelled the car back across the lanes where it struck the car of Florence Police officer Dale Fredrick who was following Holland. Fredrick was taken to the hospital and released with minor injuries. Holland was pronounce dead at the scene by Colbert County Coroner Carlton Utley.
