Felony warrants have been issued for 52 year old Ricky Fisher and 31 year old Ricky Don Thorn. Both men are accused of buying a large number of cattle at auction using worthless checks for payment. Franklin County officials said that while both men are accused of first-degree theft by deception, they were not working together. Reports indicate the men bought the cattle during sales at the Northwest Alabama Livestock Auction barn on Alabama 243 in Russellville. The checks to pay for the cattle totaled more than $23,000 and were returned for insufficient funds. According to investigators, the two men are both known to frequent cattle sales throughout north Alabama, northeast Mississippi and southern Tennessee.
