The former district attorney for Lauderdale County has passed away. Lavern Tate served as the county's district attorney from 1967 to 1987. He left after 20 years of service, when he decided to not seek re-election. The 81-year-old died Sunday at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Funeral arrangements have not been announced yet.
