A Lawrence County man and his two sons face multiple charges



50 year old Joe Howard Swafford and his two sons have been arrested and are all facing multiple charges in Lawrence County, Tenn. Joe Howard Swafford has been indicted for attempted first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, two counts of aggravated burglary, two counts of theft of property and three counts of vandalism.. Patrick Swafford, the younger son, was indicted for four counts of vandalism, two counts of aggravated burglary and two counts of theft of property. The older son, James C. Swafford, was indicted for attempted first-degree murder, especially aggravated robbery, two counts of aggravated burglary, three counts of vandalism and two counts of theft of property. James Swafford is accused of shooting Tennessee Wildlife resource officer Jeff Hummel on Dec. 30. Chief Deputy Terry Beecham, of the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office, said Hummel was assisting the department with an investigation of several burglaries in the Amish community. James Swafford is being held in the Lawrence County Jail on bail of $536,000, while his father is being held on bail of $400,000 and his brother has a bail totaling $202,000.
